Today we will be going over how to overcome the fear of success. Interestingly enough, the reason why we fail is that we don’t know what to do; its this feeling of uncertainty!
We have all been there, we have great plans, we have a goal, but that weird feeling steps in and makes everything fall apart. It is time to say no more!
The Fear of success shouldn’t be a ruling factor in our lives, and it is time we make it go away forever with the following eight ways of overcoming the fear of success.
How To Overcome The Fear Of Success:
1). Read Positive Thinking Books:
Books are compelling. They are so powerful that some were burned down to keep people from introducing ideas into their minds that would affect the social order in ancient ages. The good news is that you can use them for your advantage.
By reading books that foster a positive mindset, you will start to develop one – and equally important to maintain it constantly throughout your life. Audiobooks are also recommended. Feed your mind with success, and the fear of it will become a thing of the past.
The more you know about success, the better chances you have of achieving it. They say college is expensive. I say ignorance is more expensive. You need to understand how to do things in life, and understanding comes from study, and study comes from reading.
2). Choose to Be Around Positive-Minded Individuals:
Do you remember the last time you had a great desire to watch a movie just because a friend told you how great it was? The same thing happens with success.
The more you surround yourself with motivation-driven individuals, the more you will feel confident in all of your endeavors. Also, root out those people who may be harming you by projecting their self-doubts onto you.
Your environment is so important. If you’re hanging around people that get average results, you’ll probably end up getting the same thing in your life.
That doesn’t mean they are bad people; it just means you need to learn to elevate your company and introduce people you want to be like in your life.
That can be an extremely uncomfortable thing to do. All the thoughts in your head that go like what will they think of me? Am I gonna feel insecure? Why do I feel afraid? Just go for it anyways.
Go on blogs and look for people that are successful and join the community. Go on YouTube and subscribe to channels of highly successful people you would like to be like. Don’t be afraid of this. Do it anyway.
3). Practice Mindfulness:
The key to cracking success fears to be aware of your negative thoughts when they arise. This way, you can change them before they start growing like a snowball.
By being aware of your thought patterns with mindfulness meditation done twice a day for at least 20 minutes, you can raise your self-awareness.
On top of that, it has been proven that meditation activates those areas in your brain that stimulate calmness and self-confidence.
When you control your thoughts and feelings, that’s when your whole life will change. Everything you do when your life, all your actions, is because of the way you feel.
So take this from a logical approach. If you’re feeling scared and uncertain, you’re going to act like that, and you’re going to draw people into your life that manifest that feeling. So continue to control your inner world and meditate.
4). Feel the Fear:
Although this may sound daunting, allowing ourselves to feel and challenge the fear of success will allow us to get rid of it. This is called Exposure Therapy in psychology, and it has been used to extinguish a myriad of phobias in many people.
Thus, allow yourself to feel the fear and be aware of how it starts dissipating until completely disappearing. This is very effective, but it’s also a little uncomfortable at first.
It will take some practice, but you will discover quickly that that fear dissipates. It’s nothing more than your thoughts. Your thoughts or whatever you want them to be. Suppose you want to be courageous, think courageous thoughts.
5). Be Compassionate With Yourself:
Doing so will not only let you feel good, but it will also decrease your anxiety levels according to many studies. Any time you feel you have made mistakes start embracing your humanity and accept that those mistakes are part of your life, and it is perfectly OK to fail!
Visualize sending love to yourself, and if it makes you feel better, hug yourself at least 30 times a day. Don’t be so hard on yourself to the point where you’re feeling depressed and unsure of your future.
I’ve had so many people reach out to me regarding that feeling state, and it saddens my soul. We all make mistakes, we’re not perfect, but it doesn’t matter.
What does matter is that you love yourself, that you have a healthy respect for yourself, and that you come from a place of understanding how truly powerful you are.
Suppose you have failed in the past with tasks or goals. That does not mean anything. You learn from the past, and you move forward. Continue to emulate successful people, do as they do.
The greatest thing I want you to remember is this: whatever you see other people doing in your life that you want to accomplish, you can do that.
You are just as great as any other individual on this planet. We are all born with the same infinite potential. The only reason someone may be more successful than you are right now is because of your thinking process. Change your inner world, and the rest of your outer world will change. Your thoughts are the cause of everything in your life.
6). Prepare Yourself Thoroughly:
One of the main reasons people are afraid of success is that they think they don’t have the skills required to do the job. If you take the time to practice and master the knowledge and skills needed to achieve the goal you want to reach, then you will feel more backed-up to take things to a good ending.
For instance, if you are thinking about starting a business, then knowing business basics and improving your interpersonal skills will make you feel more confident about succeeding than just starting from scratch.
This is where studying comes in to play. As I mentioned above, reading books or watching online tutorials of successful people makes the difference. Get the knowledge needed if you want success. Then execute.
7). Accept Your Weaknesses:
We all have weaknesses. A reason that lies deep behind the fear of success is that people will get to know yourself fully, including weaknesses, once you achieve it.
This may or may not be true. In either case, it is perfectly OK to have weaknesses and to work on improving them as much as you can. Acceptance is the first step towards conquering the fear of success.
Everybody has weaknesses. I have weaknesses, and it doesn’t matter. What does matter is that you learn to work with them and to strengthen them over time.
That usually requires other people’s help. Having a mentor or friends that are better off than you is such a great supporting thing to have.
If you don’t have friends that are at the level you want to be hot, then go on YouTube and look for people and subscribe to their channel better where you want to be at. I guarantee you they have weaknesses, but they didn’t let it stop them.
8). Seek Emotional Support:
No man is an island. Seeking and finding someone you can trust and can give you that emotional boost you need when you are feeling down is of utmost importance.
Your spouse is probably one of the greatest people you can have to support you. If you’re not married or if your spouse is the type that really doesn’t support your dreams and goals, then use me. Find other people online that are successful will support you 100%.
The funny thing with success is that most successful people do want to help others. It’s just the way it works. If you feel that’s not true, well, you need to change that thinking immediately because you are sabotaging yourself. Find successful people and ask for help. There’s nothing wrong with that.
All of these tips are meant to work together for you to get rid of that unpleasant fear of success. Feel free to try many of them and adopt the ones that work to you the most to achieve the life you want!
Don’t ever be afraid of failing. Step into it, learn from your past mistakes, and continue to emulate other successful people. Make sure you only follow a couple of people that you want to be like.
There are so many different ways to have success; you need to find somebody that resonates with you and do as they do.
