You are not what you think you are; you are what you think. Read that sentence again, please and let that concept sink in a little bit before you keep reading. Done? Good.
Our thoughts and emotions create and shape our reality. The energy that we send out into The Universe comes back at us like a boomerang.
We live in such a hectic age that it’s often easy to fall under the spell of social conditioning and fall victim to the pressures that we all face daily.
As much as we shape and define our reality, the outer world defines us, too, unless we know how to use certain spiritual tools.
One of those tools, arguably the most important one, is self-esteem. A legitimate question arises: How do you build self-esteem in adults?
Read on to find out because that’s what we will be focusing on in this article. Without further ado, here they are – 5 tips on how to build self-esteem in adults.
How To Build Self-Esteem In Adults:
1). Silence Your Inner Critic:
As much as we hate to admit it, we all have that annoying, bitter, negative inner voice. “You’ll never get that done; you’re too lazy. You’re not good enough.
You don’t look good. You’re not smart.” are some of the things that inner voice whispers, sometimes even shouts. There are, however, ways to silence that voice.
Whenever you hear that voice or feel it coming up, take a deep breath, and refocus your thoughts. Try not to get annoyed or angry. Those negative, low energy emotions are what feeds your inner critic.
Just take a deep breath and say to yourself: “No, we are not going there.” The more you do this, the better you will get at it, and that voice will eventually completely vanish.
What do you want to remember is you are not your thoughts. All the stats that you think better negative are because of programming in your subconscious mind.
As you’ve grown up through life, many people probably told you negative things, and you just excepted it internally. You didn’t take the time actually to say no I don’t believe that and rejected you just let it go into your subconscious mind.
So as you’re going about your days, make sure that you’re ever vigilant about entering your mind because it is only up to you what you allow and what you reject. But keep this in mind whatever you accept goes directly to your subconscious mind, whether good or bad.
2). Don’t Compare Yourself To Others:
It’s really tempting to measure your own worth against other people. Don’t fall into that trap. It doesn’t matter if you’re comparing yourself to someone objectively better or worse than you – the outcome is, in most cases, the same.
Everyone is different, and success is an incredibly relative, ever-changing concept. Society defines what success is, not anyone, or anything else.
You are who you are – better yourself because you want to better yourself, not because you want to be better than others. Never compare yourself to others.
You are just as great as any other individual on this planet. Yeah, some people may have better results but compared to what? I bet that your results are better than a lot of people in Africa. Am I right?
Always remember to compare to yourself and nobody else. You’re trying to impress yourself and feel better about yourself. Don’t ever compare yourself to money either.
I use to compare myself to the income I made; what a mistake that was. Always remember to compare yourself to God’s child, her daughter. Your true essence, who you really are, is magnificent and special.
3). Get Rid Of Limiting Beliefs:
Who says you can’t do what you want? Nothing is impossible. Break down those barriers in your mind. You are in charge of your life, and you are the only person that gets to decide what to do with the time you have been given.
There is nothing that can limit you. Whatever you set your mind to – you can do it. Sure, most things take a lot of hard work and dedication, but that’s what makes them worth accomplishing. Societal norms, popular media, and even your family and friends cannot define or limit you.
4). Cultivate Positive Thoughts:
Think positive. You’re setting yourself up for failure if you think negatively. Most people are naturally pessimistic and negative, do you know why?
Because they’re scared, they’re scared of freeing themselves, and that’s why that falls into that vicious cycle of negativity. It’s a warm blanket they cover their insecurities with.
It’s what helps them feel safe, but they are weak. Positive thoughts generate positive energy, and positive energy breeds happiness, well-being, and spiritual and personal growth.
Now, this takes some serious practice, but you can do it. I bet you it will take anywhere from 30 to 90 days for you to cultivate positive thinking only.
Most people think negatively because they let the outside world and all the problems dictate their emotional response to everything. This takes some serious self-discipline to learn to think from the inside out instead of the outside in.
5). Surround Yourself With Supportive People:
You don’t need negative, toxic people in your life, even if their intentions are good. Forgive them, but move on. Surround yourself with positive, like-minded people.
This is absolutely crucial. Nervous, bitter perfectionists that criticize you and what you choose to do with your life are not your friends. Having a network of supportive, positive thinking individuals is the perfect breeding ground for abundant self-esteem.
Self-esteem is the foundation of your spiritual architecture. Self-esteem is the most powerful fuel for your personal revolution and an invaluable spiritual tool.
We are all inherently confident but, somehow, most of us manage to lose that confidence along the way. The time has come to restore it.
Only once you do that will you be able to become your best self. You are all-powerful; you have so much potential that you’ll never really understand all of it until the next life. But I want you to know this you can do anything you put your mind to if anyone’s told you that you can’t do something, that is a lie, and you excepted it.
Don’t accept those lies anymore. You were meant to do great things; you were meant to climb Mount Everest if that is what you choose. You were meant to have all the success that you desire.
There is no such thing as God’s will for you. There is such a thing as developing yourself to the greatest that you possibly can before you pass away. Life is short; most people waste their lives just being average, doing average things getting average results. Become somebody today that you want to be.
Except that picture in your mind now. Understand that you were just as great as anybody on this planet. All of us have the same potential; the only difference is that some choose to use that potential, and others squander it. If you were given $10 billion right now, how was your life change? What would you do? How would you feel right now in this moment?
Would you still be working at the job you’re working? Answer these questions honestly because that’ll tell you if you’re on the right track or not.
Set yourself up for a mission in life to accomplish. I’m not talking about a goal; I’m talking about an all-consuming up session that you can’t get out of your mind.
My all-consuming obsession is to wake people up to their infinite potential. To shake off the labels in the problems and all the negativity that they’ve been programmed with.
That’s what drives me every day. To expand people’s consciousness to wake them up and have them feel alive and know that they are all-powerful and that they can do anything.
What if I told you that you could become a millionaire in six months. I have not done that YET……But I know it’s possible, and I know I know it’s only a matter of time until I do because I know my potential is UNLIMITED.
Suppose your first thought to that was yeah, right. That’s a subconscious paradigm that needs to be changed. You can do anything that you believe you can.
And belief is nothing more than excepting on an emotional level your desires as already yours. If you want to change your emotional programming, check out this article and how to do that.
Your subconscious mind operates 95% of your life; the other 5% is conscious. Get your shit together and watch your life change.
Let me ask you one more question. What’s the difference between you and Bill Gates? Honestly, think about that for a minute. What’s the difference? The answer is results, and that’s it. Everything else is fundamentally the same. Many people say, well, he has a really high IQ, and he’s brilliant.
And you’re not intelligent, and you don’t have an IQ? If your God’s highest form of creation and you have infinite potential, then what the hell does that matter?
If you see people in life experiencing great amounts of success, what that should mean to you is that you can do that as well and more.
Money is not everything, but while you’re on this earth, it will certainly help you express yourself more and be more comfortable on this journey.
Money is not designed to make you happy but comfortable. Get in touch with your higher self, learn how to work the power of your subconscious mind in your favor, and things will never be the same in your life.
