Every career, however appropriate it might appear, affects everyone involved in it. It’s the wish of every employee or any partaker in a particular career that their operation should be as smooth as possible.
However, this is not always the case, and as one progresses in a particular career, it is natural to face numerous career challenges that come out as a stumbling block towards career success.
This can be in the form of stress that, if not minimized or avoided, might cause adverse effects to the productivity of individuals, whether employees or entrepreneurs, who are working very hard towards their investment goals.
Despite the threat posed to productivity by various situations, among them stress, here are some of the ways, mechanisms, and methods that can be of great benefit to career stressors:
10 Ways To Handle Workplace Stress:
1). Ensure The Consumption Of Healthy Snacks:
It might sound insignificant to worry about the foods you consume at the office, but it is of ultimate importance because what you consume affects several aspects that either positively or negatively influence your working capacity.
While at the office, ensure you only consume foods that have proteins and fiber. Fiber is an integral part of a smooth digestion process and has nutrients that aid in enhancing the digestion process.
This keeps one fresh and comfortable in the office, which boosts their productivity. Avoid eating food from vending machines and ensure you don`t take more than two-three cups of coffee to avoid being dehydrated because this will demand foods that might bring discomfort.
Pre-packaged and non-processed foods from home such as unsalted nuts, apples, butter, and fresh fruit are healthier for you at the office because they are natural foods that have fewer or no side effects.
2). Have Time For Meditation During Lunch:
The lunch period is set for relaxing and is so important for refreshing the brain for more work in the afternoon hours, and if well observed, it becomes a great contribution to effective and high production in the afternoon hours.
There is always a notion that working through lunchtime can cover up for work not done and become a contribution towards great productivity.
However, working through lunchtime is a big contribution to increased stress levels. One ought to utilize that time for recreation purposes and may be helpful if one sets themselves in a fascinating environment, like an image of one being on a beach with warm sand and a view of the waves with an insightful reflection of one`s life.
This is one among many refreshing ways and ensures maximum utilization of lunchtime hours to leave one rejuvenated and fresh for efficient performance during the afternoon period.
3). Hold Onto Strong Affirmations:
Learn to use affirmations in the present tense. By doing this with feeling, you’ll begin to feel less stressed, happier, and more relaxed if you read your affirmation slowly. You’ll begin to feel a sudden change inside. You’ll want to do this for about 4 to 5 minutes.
Anytime you also begin to feel stressed, pull out your affirmations and read a few. I do this consistently, and it’s fun. Feel free to write down five affirmations that you feel will calm you down when you’re feeling stressed. And make sure that as you read them, that you read them slowly and with massive feelings.
4). Ensure You Maintain Your Track Of Time:
One way of ensuring this is by making sure you leave on time as many times as possible. Staying overtime in the office past requirement is an adverse contributor to stress, and leaving early on time can help reduce stress for employees.
It also allows one to deal with life issues outside the workplace which is a big motivation and enhances the sense of belonging feeling and improves the productivity of the organization.
When you extend to overtime and even to the night intending to impress your employer that you can make it even if it means less sleep to achieve it, little did you know that it gives you less time to relax and get ready for work the following day.
Overtime can be best utilized to meet deadlines, enabling you to go home more at peace than if you left early with pending work and approaching deadlines.
Some simple tasks such as emails can wait the next day and relieve your stress of having to spend extra time to complete the task.
5). Prioritize Your Tasks:
Become dedicated to prioritizing your tasks by making a list and affixing it on your desk or anywhere where it is easy to remember and have a glance at it daily.
This can help reduce stress to a great extent and hence becomes a big step towards reducing stress in the line of one`s career.
You can also prepare a list of dos and do nots about your goals and a list of daily goals that help you work towards achieving the organization’s overall goals. Make a mark on the list of those tasks that have been complete as this makes you relieved of them.
6). Evade And Ignore Office Gossip:
This is important because it can even get you fired and instead focus on showing everyone that you are positive and have a lot of energy to work away from gossip.
This makes you do what you are expected to do and helps avoid unnecessary wastage of time and procrastination, which is thought to be a thief of time.
One of the things that I have learned personally from Grant Cardone is that sells gossip, or any form of gossip is extremely destructive to the entire environment.
That is the quickest way that you can actually destroy an organization. It’s extremely dangerous, and if it was my company, I would never tolerate it in the slightest.
Plus, when you talk like that, you are actually programming your subconscious mind literally for negativity. You will begin to attract more things for you to gossip about, complain about, worry about.
If that’s what you want more in your life, then continue to do that, but if you want to be happy and successful and less stressed, be absolutely positive and no negativity whatsoever.
I think having a positive mindset no matter where you are in the most beneficial thing that you can do. People love positive vibes; people love to feel good.
We as a human race are in the habit of complaining continually, and it’s just plain wrong. We are programmed to look for all the wrong in everything. We’re never grateful; we’re so tied up in all our problems.
But isn’t it interesting that we continue to have those same problems, that we continue to express stress, frustration, anxiety, disliked feelings? It’s not an accident because your subconscious mind is giving you more of what you’re focusing on.
If people are gossiping in the office, walk away don’t even confront it. Stay focused on something positive. Look for what you accomplished today that really made a difference for you.
And if it’s not anything worth mentioning, start to make a list of things you are grateful for in your mind and feel it. That will begin to change everything for you.
Gratitude is the most powerful force in the universe that you can implement in your life. Use it daily; consistently, heck, you can even use it when people are gossiping and say I am so grateful that my environment is upbeat, positive, and stress-free.
Watch what happens when you begin to do that. Your lucky si what people will start to say, you will know that it is the power of gratitude changing the circumstances at your job. Try this; I promise you it works.
How do I know it works? Because I use it all the time, I can’t express enough the power behind this mystical force or whatever you wanna call it. I just know that it works, and it just IS, and that’s good enough for me.
7). Save As Much As You Can:
Ensure you accumulate as much savings as possible to avoid the worry of being laid off. Getting laid off unexpectedly is one of the greatest contributors to worry that brings stress.
Ensure you have enough to get you through and focus on a great performance and then save the rest, at least amounting to expenses of three months.
80% of Americans only have $400 in their savings. Now I don’t know if this is true, but that’s what I’ve heard. I’m sure it changes daily, I guess. The point is having money in savings is gonna make you feel a lot better.
8). Learn To Do Deep Breathing Throughout The Day:
This is a great contributor to improved brain function, high job performance levels and help in making smarter food choices. Breathing helps you stay calm in stressful situations, for instance, communicating with your boss.
I will check in with myself periodically, probably every half hour. And start breathing; I’ll take just 30 seconds. Doing that allows me to take control of my thoughts and my feeling state. When that is in control, everything else falls into place naturally.
9). Execute Difficult Tasks First:
This can be done by avoiding workload and eliminating the hardest part first, which helps to build confidence as you move on with other tasks and having an easy time with the easy tasks.
10). Focus On Positive Imagines In Your Mind:
One of the greatest things that you can do as well is focusing on positive images. Close your eyes and imagine yourself on the beach with your feet hitting the water. Doing this causes you to take your mind to a place of relaxation, peace, tranquility.
Pay attention to how you begin to feel. That is what we are looking for here to control your inner feeling state. As I write this, I am literally visualizing myself on the beach with the water hitting my feet. I’m literally feeling more relaxed right now than I was 30 seconds ago just by doing the simple exercise. Cool hu?
By following the advice above, your stress at your job or entrepreneurship will become much less. Be patient as you try these tips; it will work for you, it will change the way that you feel, and most importantly, you’ll begin to win consistently and effortlessly.
Stress is always caused by internal causes. Nothing on the outside of your life is causing your stress; it is your thoughts that you are emotionally involved with that are causing you to feel tense, frustrated, and unhappy. Control your thoughts, control your feelings, be the mental state of success that must be required for you to achieve it.
If you can develop the habit of continually being positive, looking for all the good in your life, everything will change for you. This takes time, this takes effort, and you have to be willing to pay the price to get into the habit of thinking like that. But when you do, you will naturally begin to feel better, and your stress will leave.
